Favorite of the week! Tavice Ridlington, amateur boxer from Crawley, United Kingdom, fighting out of AK’S gym he is our favorite of the week! Dive in!
JabtoJab: When it happen your first contact with boxing?
Tavice: I’ve always had a desire to box from a young age but I kept it to myself and just couldn’t find the right gym, until now! I started properly in October 2019 and now I can’t stop!

How is your relationship with your coaches and colleagues when you are training? There’s only one word that can describe my relationship with my coaches and colleagues, that’s FAMILY! There is no egos in the gym, we all respect one another, we are disciplined in and out of the ring! No matter where you come from and no matter your background, we all work as one! Couldn’t be more grateful for the team I have around me!

Which is the boxer you like the most and why? I respect anyone that steps into the ring, it takes balls! I have a couple such as, Alex Dilmaghani, who I know very well! I love his pressure, doesn’t let his opponents breath for a second. His fight against Fonseca showed how much of a warrior he is and for sure he will be world champion soon! Finally I would say Tyson fury, who wouldn’t? His movement around the ring is just insane, it’s like watching the matrix! His story as well is just jaw dropping!

What is your motivation for training? I don’t like the word motivation, I prefer driven! If I have a goal in mind I will stick to it at all costs! The thing that drives me is everyone who ever doubted me, wrote me off before I even got started! I have this thing that I have to prove people wrong. Also my family and friends, I want to do this for all of them! We’ve had ups and downs but I want to bring them along with me on this amazing journey!
And sparring? Describe us the feeling you have when sparring with your colleagues? Sparring is for sure the hardest part of training but train hard, fight easy! There is so much respect when we all spar, I’ve learnt so much from my sparring partners and it’s all love between us. The experienced boxers help and give tips to all of us!

Did you ever participate in a boxing Event? How was the feeling ? I have taken part in a boxing event and the feeling is unbelievable! All eyes are on you, everything you’ve been working on in camp comes down to this. You’ve got your family and friends right behind, the atmosphere is electrifying! Makes your hairs stand up!
Besides boxing been a sport where we have lots of physical contact do you believe that if everybody practice, we will have less violence in the streets for example? I believe it will have a massive impact with violence in the streets, it takes kids off the streets and gives them something to work towards! Boxing isn’t just about getting in a ring to beat someone up, you can do it to keep fit or even socialise. I recommend all parents to allow there kids in to gyms!
Do you believed that who practice boxing becomes a better person in work, with family, friends? I’m a great example of this! Ask any of my teachers, I was always getting into trouble back in the day but I guarantee if they saw me today, they would be so shocked and that’s thanks to my coaches putting a lot of time into me and teaching me the wonderful sport of boxing! If your thinking of doing boxing, do it!!!
